An Introduction to Choice Neighborhoods
Early this year, the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods Initiative. The purpose of this NOFA is to provide Public Housing Authorities around the country with an opportunity to competitively apply for funding to transform distressed neighborhoods into revitalized, viable, and economically sustainable mixed-income neighborhoods. This grant assists public housing authorities with linking housing improvements with appropriate services, schools, public assets, transportation, access to jobs, and high-quality educational opportunities, including early childhood education. Choice Neighborhoods grants build upon the successes of public housing transformation to provide support for the preservation and rehabilitation of public and HUD-assisted housing.
HABD is proud to announce its pursuit of this opportunity and will competitively apply for a Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant to transform the Loveman Village community. HABD believes that if awarded, this grant will serve as an economical boost for the Loveman Village community and its residents as it will serves as a catalyst by investing and leveraging investments in the North Titusville neighborhood.
